A Personal Message From Your Local Union President

Welcome to your local union and to your Union Family, the UAW. My name is Vilma Torres-Mulholland and I am the President of Local 2179. As a new member, you probably have many unanswered questions. We, your co-workers and fellow union members want to be cooperative and helpful in any way we can. Your union works to build a better future by raising the standard of living of the members, by improving their working conditions, and by protecting workers agains injustice on the job and in their community. Strengthened in the solidarity of human brotherhood throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico we join hands to achieve a world of security, dignity, justice and peace for all.

The Stewards/Grievance Handlers are your local union representatives right on the job. The are elected directly by the membership in your work unit, and are your best contact point of information about the union and its activities

Hoping you have a long, happy and rewarding association with UAW Local 2179. We invite you to attend all membership meetings and participate in our local union activities and programs
